African Harambee Dinner
You're Invited to the African Harambee Dinner!
February 17th, from 6pm-9pm in the Great Hall at Coffman Union at the University of Minnesota.
We will be focusing on African development and water issues which correlates with GSSA's service-learning project in Chebukwa, Kenya where we will build a clinic and rainwater catchment system with the Nafula Foundation. Harambee in Swahili means "all pull together" and that's exactly what we need to do to aid in African development!
The night will feature:
--Over 15 organizations involved with African development and water issues
--African Drum Performance from Hayor Bibimma Dance Company
--FREE African food from Kilimanjaro Cafe and Casablanca Restaurant
--Three Key Note Speakers:
-------Professor Tade Okediji- Political and Economic development in Africa
-------Sr. Rosita Aranita- Water Projects in Africa through CSJ St. Paul
-------Shiney Varghese- Co-Chair of the United Nations Water Commission
Come Pledge to help Water and Development in Africa and join the fun!
Thank you to our sponsors: African Studies Department, Institute for Global Studies, CLA Student Board, and Office of International Programs Global Spotlight
