One down, seven to go!
Hello all!
This is the first of (hopefully) many blogs dedicated to our three weeks in Kenya. I just arrived in Nairobi, and am sitting in a very clean, comfortable, white bed watching CNN and eating fries. What a life!
The group and I will be leaving for the Terminal Hotel on Thursday and Friday they will begin the difficult and very bumpy trip to Bungoma. I've already gotten many questions about why we are working in Bungoma. "That's too far away," people say, "that's too rural, why don't you stay in Nairobi?" But that's why we work in Bungoma town, Chebukwa village ... because others simply won't.
Kenya is exactly how I remember it, and I'm looking forward to seeing and experiencing Africa with seven other volunteers. Tomorrow I plan on checking out a safari deal for the group, as well as shop a bit for some family and friends.
Please keep up to date on our blog. I look forward to updating this as the trip moves forward.
Thanks so much,
K
