Starting the water project!
Hello everyone and greetings from Kenya!
Today is the first ground breaking day for the Nafula Foundation's clean water project. We have already started digging early this morning and the sand and cement was delivered last night. Logistically, the project has been going well, especially when we have no engineers in the group. I'll make sure to take pictures this afternoon for tomorrow's enjoyment.
The group also started the health care group, and the first meeting is this afternoon at 2pm. We're going to be talking about the needs of the community and what they would like us to cover during our two weeks here.
Gisele put together a wonderful after school art program that will be starting this afternoon as well, and be continuing every Tuesday and Thursday until July.
Daniel asked us to attend a funeral of a friend on Thursday, which I believe will be a moving experience for the group.
They are also off to a safari during the weekend, where they will be visiting Nakuru National Park and Naivasha.
Otherwise, all is well here. Looking forward to the next post with *hopefully* some photos.
Cheers,
K
